I’d like a discovery
Send someone discovering
Choose someone you’d like to send discovering, and give them a tiny mission. It can be as specific, silly or open-ended as you like.
There is no registration required and no need to share anything publicly.
- Choose your discoverer. A partner, friend, sibling, child, parent, colleague or anyone else who might enjoy keeping an eye out for something on your behalf.
- Give them a mission, if you’d like. A few to borrow: find me something yellow in nature; find me the most unexpected thing you see; find me the fluffiest dog. For more, see the full list of mission ideas. The best ones are small.
- Send the invitation. Two variants, you choose.
Copy a message below, then edit the bits [in brackets] before you send it.
I’m taking part in Discoveries for ME and I’d love you to be my discoverer.
The idea is very simple: I send you on a tiny mission and you bring a little piece of the world back to me.
Your first mission, should you choose to accept it: [your mission here].
It doesn’t need to be anything special or require a special trip. If you spot something while you’re going about your day, send it my way.
You can read what it involves here: https://www.omfaustralia.ngo/discoveries-for-me/be-a-discoverer/

If you’re happy to, you could also share what you find using #DiscoveriesForME, and set up a small fundraising page so your discoveries help fund ME/CFS and Long COVID research too. Completely up to you. The discovery is the heart of it; the rest is a bonus.
A quick note on sharing: [I’m happy to be named and tagged / please share it but keep me anonymous / please keep our discoveries just between us].

What you’d like to share
Sharing is always optional, and it is your call. When discoveries start coming back, have a think about what you are comfortable with, and let your discoverer know:
- Happy to be named: they can share the discovery and your first name. Anything more personal, or anything about your health, is a separate yes.
- Rather stay anonymous: they can share the discovery, but will not identify you.
- Rather keep it private: it stays just between you.
You can decide differently for each discovery, and you can change your mind any time.
